Running – One Year On

runniversary

I was unsure. I was self-conscious. I was worried. I was also a bit excited.

But on that first day of Couch to 5K I pushed through all the doubts and showed myself I in fact could do it.

It’s been exactly a year since I laced up my running shoes and headed out for the first time. There have been days over the past year when I couldn’t wait to get out there and other times, weeks at a time, when it was the last thing I wanted to do so running was put off for another day or week. But after too many days of not running I would begin to feel like something was missing and I always managed to get back in the groove.

Since August 10, 2016 I’ve started and finished the Couch to 5K program (which I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone thinking of trying it) and I’ve also signed up for and ran a 5K in town, managing to not come in last which honestly was my only goal.

And to celebrate this one year runniversary I’ll be hitting the pavement again, albeit slowly, this afternoon.
